INTRODUCTION

Foundation 50 Academic Society advances the publications of scholarly work in indexed and peer-reviewed journals. It promotes academic publishing as a vital pursuit for a successful academic career. The Society also promotes the increase of academic productivity at the University of Zambia. Membership is voluntary and comprises individuals from various disciplines and schools, where they are appointed as either lecturer or researcher.

The Society also promotes the pursuit of excellence in academic careers and recognition of outstanding achievements of its membership through election to award or distinguished achievement. The Society recognises that a knowledge society, such as the University of Zambia, depends for its growth on the production of new knowledge, its transmission through education and training, its dissemination through information and communication technologies, and its use through new industrial processes or services. Academic publishing serves three main roles:

·       Validation of the Scholar’s work

·       Communication of ideas

·        Archiving of the work for future access by others

The Society is convinced that in supporting, recognizing and honouring those members who have excelled in scholarship and, in academic publishing in particular, in whatever field, it will stimulate its members and others to strive for excellence.
